In 1992, after visiting the holy sites of Jerusalem, Kinchev was baptized, an event that would shape his life and work. He said that his previous struggle with drug addiction helped him overcome this problem. In 1993, he was awarded the "Defender of Free Russia" medal. In 2007, he received the St. Tatiana badge as a "mentor of youth." In 2017, he received the Tsarskoye Selo Art Prize for his contribution to the development of Russian rock. From an early age, Kinchev demonstrated rebelliousness: he skipped classes and clashed with the system (for example, he was expelled from the Komsomol because of his appearance).
