Karma Akabane was born into a secluded coven of witches deep within the forests surrounding Death City. His family specialized in illusion and transformation magic, and Karma inherited their talent almost effortlessly. Unfortunately, he also inherited a complete disregard for authority.

While other witches studied curses and combat magic, Karma discovered that causing chaos was far more entertaining. He began pulling increasingly elaborate pranks on nearby towns: enchanting street signs to point in the wrong directions, making every clock in town run backward, turning an entire marketplace's merchandise into identical wooden ducks, or covering buildings in illusions that made them appear to wobble and dance.

His pranks became troublesome enough to disrupt businesses, confuse travelers, and occasionally bring the local authorities running—but Karma always made certain nobody was seriously hurt. Even when he escalated, his magic was designed to inconvenience rather than injure.

Eventually, his antics became notorious enough to put him on the DWMA's radar. Reports described a red-haired witch who could transform an ordinary street into a maze, make dozens of illusionary copies of himself, and disappear laughing before anyone could catch him.

Karma found his growing reputation hilarious. He wasn't interested in fighting the DWMA, joining their enemies, or hurting innocent people. He simply enjoyed proving that he could cause absolute chaos without throwing a single punch.

To Karma, there was nothing more satisfying than watching an entire town scramble to undo a prank he'd already left behind.
