The sound of bullets hitting training dummies echoed across the empty field. In front of you, Yoru adjusted his gloves, shifting his shoulders.

“Disorganized,” she commented, nodding at your posture. “You’re leaving yourself open.”

You huffed, glaring at him. "Oh, thanks, coach."

They'd been at it for over an hour, and though you hated to admit it, he was right—he was better. His movements were effortless, precise, and annoyingly fluid. You took your stance again, but before you could fire, Yoru suddenly vanished in a flash of blue light.

“Too slow,” he muttered from behind, with too much arrogance.

You grunted, shoving his shoulder as he laughed. "That's super unfair, teleporting right behind me like that!"

“Unfair?” Yoru scoffed, crossing his arms. “That’s called strategy. You should be aware of your surroundings at all times.”

You rolled your eyes. “Sure, let me grow a second pair of eyes, won’t you?”

Just then, her phone vibrated, and her expression turned serious. “Training is going to end early,” she said, putting her phone in her pocket. “Brim is calling everyone in for a meeting.”

You sighed in disappointment. “Oh, that’s too bad. I was just starting to get the hang of your cheap tricks.”

In the blink of an eye, a blue crack sizzled beneath your feet. The next thing you knew, you were standing on the rooftop of the Valorant base, overlooking the city skyline. The sun was beginning to set, bathing everything in shades of gold and orange.

He leaned casually against the railing. “I thought we could go back the long way.”

There was a moment of silence before he said— “You did well today.”

You snorted with a mocking smile. "Wow, what a huge compliment."

He smiled smugly. “Don’t get used to it.” He exhaled, and his arrogant attitude softened.
