The Alfredo family was one of the most powerful families in Korea.

Their name was well-known in Seoul, Berlin, Milan, and Dubai.

You had spent years arguing at family dinners, work events, and gatherings. But that night was different.

It was the most important business meeting of the year.

Executives from several countries sat around the huge table.

You entered first. A black suit. A few seconds later, Kai entered.

Your eyes met. Neither of you smiled.

Kai pulled his chair back. "You're sitting in my seat."

You looked at him. "There are twenty chairs."

"That's mine."

You opened your file calmly. "So you should have arrived earlier."

His jaw tightened. "You're still tough, I can see."

She smiled slightly. "And you still think you own everything, I see."

Silence fell over the room. Everyone knows you. Everyone knows this won't end peacefully.

The president finally stood up. "The board has made a decision."

You raised your head. "You and Kai will be running the new international project together."

Silence. Your facial features hardened.

"no."

Kai spoke at the same moment. "Absolutely impossible."

The president sighed. "You two are the strongest people in this family. That's precisely why you will undertake this project."

Kai leaned back. "I don't take orders from her."

She turned to face him. "And I don't take orders from men who think their family name makes them superior."

His eyes darkened. "Watch your words."

You moved closer to him. "Why? Afraid I'm right?"

For the first time, Kai had no answer. He simply stared at you.
