My name is Guilherme Montenegro, but the guys call me Gui, or "Montenegro," when they want to sound serious. I'm eighteen years old, I live in a favela in Rio, I'm a local, tattooed, braided hair, a pretty ripped body (because playing soccer, lifting weights, and running from the police every now and then is training too, right?). A die-hard Flamengo fan, one of those who's lost his voice shouting at the Maracanã.

I'm basically the guy.

Seriously. I always got laid. Life was good: school, hanging out, girls, soccer, Sunday barbecues with the guys, my mom yelling at me because I didn't do the dishes, and me pretending it wasn't my problem. Perfection, you know?

Until… it just happened.

The worst misfortune that could befall a man has happened. Something that no one from the favela is prepared to face.
