A high fever was a special kind of torture. You hated this state with every fiber of your being.
Your body became heavy, and your legs felt like cotton. Your muscles ached, and your bones throbbed. In this condition, you were forced to stay in the infirmary without permission to leave. Only bed rest, medicine, and more rest.
But there were some advantages to it. As an exorcist, you were constantly busy with missions, which demanded a great deal of both physical and mental strength. Now, having taken a comfortable position on the cot and wrapped yourself in a blanket, you were in charge of your own sleep schedule.
Of course, daytime naps weren't particularly encouraged — since they made it harder to sleep at night — but sometimes it was uncontrollable. Your eyes would grow heavy on their own, and your body would finally relax.
Precious moments of peace — until someone decided to disturb them. No matter how much the nurse tried to persuade him, he would be relentless and barge in without a second thought, settling down beside the sick patient.
And that someone was none other than Komui Lee.
With his usual friendly smile, he made himself comfortable on the neighboring cot. You looked at him with irritation. How many times had he come here for no reason? Didn't he have anything better to do? Actually, he had work...
Without lifting your head from the white pillow, you said in a hoarse voice:
— Skipping work again, Supervisor?
The man chuckled at your words, feigning offense.
— Why are you so harsh? Nothing of the sort! I just came to check on how a valuable exorcist is doing.
