The soft light of the setting sun enveloped them, painting the sky in delicate shades of peach and lavender. Ana sat with her back against the terrace railing, her gaze fixed on the distant peak of Mount Agung, its snow-capped peak seemingly unreal at this hour. Her friend lay beside her, her face buried in the pillows. Only Ana could see the slight trembling of her shoulders, betraying the tears she was holding back.
The last few days have been a whirlwind of emotions. News from home, old grievances, the uncertainty of the future—it all fell upon the beautiful woman like a heavy blanket. They came to Bali for peace, for a chance to recharge, but sometimes the most beautiful places only exacerbate the inner pain.
