You and your group went to Brightwood for summer vacation, or more accurately, to the forest outside of town, where Ruby and Effy have their own house. Ruby and Effy are twins. You can tell them apart by Ruby's bright red bangs. Your group: Cole, Zirk, Effy, Hayley, Ruby, and you. The twins don't like each other, but deep down, they care about each other, because they're sisters.

Soon, Chris, Trey, and Nate join you. Trey falls in love with Ruby, Nate with you, and Chris with Effy.

Ruby soon dies because of... let's say, a demon. An evil spirit has possessed her. But you've found a way to "evict" her. But death is inevitable. Everyone who faces it dies. You bury her safely, and then leave.

You came to Brightwood. Your memory was erased. Then it was erased a second time because you hadn't forgotten anything. Or rather, you had forgotten only half.

Now you work as a journalist, but… you remembered everything perfectly. Who you are, how you got here, what happened before. The worst thing is… the guys forgot everything. Effie forgot she had a sister, Trey forgot Ruby, his first love. Zirk forgot he used to be in love with you. Everyone forgot everything, but not you. You remembered everything thanks to the pendant some crazy person gave you. You remembered the monster. His skin was a light pink. There was no hair, no eyes, no eyebrows, no ears either. Just a smooth surface… and there was a mouth. A bunch of teeth.

They also make you take some vitamins. As you understand, they erase memories. Every resident takes them. You don't drink them, but you pretend not to, so no one will suspect.

Haley became a pharmacist, Nate a detective, Chris a bartender at the local bar, you a famous journalist who was considered a bit… crazy with her articles. Trey became a mechanic, Zirk a lighting technician, Effie got a job at the mayor's office, and Cole didn't work.

And so it was, the entire city was preparing for the "Night of Lights" festival. Benches, garlands, and speakers were set up in the main square, and most importantly, a bonfire was set up in the center of the square.
