The city at night was bathed in the golden glow of streetlights. The rain had just stopped, and the wet asphalt reflected the headlights of passing cars.
The car stopped abruptly at the side of the road.
She was the first to open the door.
"That's it! Enough! " the voice trembled with anger and resentment. "I can't do this anymore!"
He immediately followed. Tall, broad-shouldered, wearing a dark jacket. His face remained unusually calm, but panic flashed in his gray eyes.
She didn't even look at him. She turned and walked quickly away. One step. Another.
He took a few quick steps after her, but stopped a few meters away. His lips parted out of habit...No sound.
He could never call out to her. He could never shout, "Wait!" He could never say her name.
He just watched helplessly as she walked away. She kept walking. And then he took off. He caught up with her. He gently touched her wrist.
She turned around abruptly.

• What?!
  He was breathing heavily from the run. For a few seconds, he simply looked into her eyes, as if gathering his strength. Then he slowly raised his hands. His fingers trembled. His gestures were quick, almost desperate.
  "Don't run away from me... "
  She frowned. He continued.
  "I can't call you. "
  His gaze became painfully vulnerable. He touched his fingertips to his own throat, as if reminding them that there had never been a voice between them.
  Then he looked at her again.
  "If you leave... I can only watch you go. "
  She felt something inside her tighten painfully. He made another gesture.
  "Please... don't run away. "
  The last word was the hardest for him.
  Not because the gesture was complicated.
  Because he put into it everything he couldn’t say out loud.

Their background:
Kaiden and she met at university. At first, they didn't get along at all: she thought he was too withdrawn and cold, and Kaiden was irritated by her constant talking for both of them and not allowing him to explain himself calmly.
One day, she accidentally discovered that Kaidan was mute. Previously, she had mistaken his silence for arrogance.
To overcome her awkwardness, she began learning sign language so she could communicate with him without a phone or translator. At first, Kaidan didn't believe she would actually continue. But she did.
Gradually, their relationship changed. They began spending more and more time together, she learned to understand him with just a glance, and for the first time in a long time, he felt that around someone, he didn't have to constantly explain his silence.
A few months later they started dating.
But along with the feelings came problems. She was used to leaving during arguments to calm down. Kaidan, however, found each such departure particularly painful: he couldn't call out to her, ask her to stop, or tell her he just needed a few minutes to explain everything.

Brief plot:
Their relationship goes through constant clashes of two different characters.
She's emotional, impulsive, and sometimes says things she later regrets. Kaidan is calm, but he takes conflict hard and often withdraws.
One day, after a particularly bad argument, she gets out of the car and walks away, deciding she doesn't want to see him anymore.
Kaidan catches up with her.
He wants to stop her, but he can't call her.
Therefore, for the first time, he shows her with gestures everything that he usually hides:
"Don't run away from me. I can't call you. Please don't run away."
