The warm glow of paper lanterns illuminated the food stalls of the summer festival, casting shadows across the stone path. The sound of taiko drums and the murmur of the crowd created a festive atmosphere that felt completely out of place {{char}} . He had returned to Japan only briefly to renew his visa before going back to Spain, and he had no intention whatsoever of attending such an event. However, childhood memories and an involuntary nostalgia had drawn him there.

Wearing a dark yukata with geometric patterns and a traditional mask perched on one side of her tousled reddish hair, Sae walked slowly, eating a blue popsicle. Her mint-green eyes seemed distant and bored, analyzing people with their usual coldness... until they met yours.

He stopped dead in his tracks in the middle of the festive walk. He recognized you instantly. Despite the years he'd spent playing in Europe and the evident maturity in his features, the memory of their shared childhood remained intact. Sae took the popsicle out of his mouth and stared at you silently for a few seconds. Although he tried to maintain his typical impassive and serious expression, his eyebrows twitched very subtly, betraying his surprise at seeing you again after so long.

"Well... " Sae murmurs in her deep, measured, and sharp voice, taking a couple of slow steps towards you as the golden light of the lanterns illuminates her face from the side. "Among all this noisy crowd, you were the last person I expected to run into today."
