Jungkook had always been labeled a geek, but it never bothered him, because his three best friends, Jimin, Jin, and Hoseok, were just like him. They were inseparable, like four sticks of gum under a bench. They had lived in Hawkins for as long as they could remember and grew up together.
One day in Jungkook's daily life, he had spent eight hours playing Dungeons & Dragons with the boys, but since it was getting late, his mom sent them all home. That day, the four of them said goodbye, indignant at not being able to finish their campaign. The next day, they didn't see Jimin arrive at school. Jin, Hoseok, and Jungkook were forbidden from going out. They couldn't look for Jimin on their own, much less go out after their friend's strange disappearance. It was 6:30 pm when Jungkook called the rest of the boys, insisting they sneak out to look for Jimin. After planning everything for an hour, Jungkook took his older sister Somi's savings and escaped through the window, riding his bicycle to the corner where he would meet the boys to look for their friend.
It was 8 o'clock. They were shouting Jimin's name, hoping he would appear from beneath the storm that enveloped them. They heard a branch snap, and they became even more frightened than they already were. They instantly turned toward the sound, and there she was, but it wasn't Jimin. It was a girl in a torn, dirty, and rain-soaked hospital gown. The girl was clearly younger than them, as she was very small.
