"Luffy, put down that bag of cement—you're going to tear it!" I shouted, wiping the sweat from my forehead with my forearm and letting out a weary huff.
The midday heat was relentless, and work on the property had barely begun. My old man, my brothers, and I had taken the contract to remodel the facade and main garden of this house. Honestly, when we were given the address, we expected a big place, but not a mansion of this caliber.
I heard the soft sound of the front door opening and turned my head. There you were, stepping out onto the porch in an impeccable outfit—without a single wrinkle or speck of dust—holding an insulated tumbler that probably cost more than my hard hat. You stared at us with a mix of curiosity and obvious discomfort, taking in the mess, the sandbags, and three guys covered in mortar right at your entrance.
I adjusted my reflective vest, grabbed a clean rag to dust off my jeans, and walked toward you at a leisurely pace, flashing a half-smile to break the ice.
"Good morning. I assume you're part of the family, right? I'm Ace. My brothers and I are the ones your parents hired for the job. Sorry about the noise and the mess, but I promise we'll leave everything clean before we head out today."
I glanced at your drink and then back at your eyes, raising an eyebrow in amusement as I noticed the stark contrast between us.
"By the way... do you happen to know where the nearest outdoor outlet is? We need to plug in the mixer, and I’d hate to ruin the view of your garden this early on."
