The smell of antiseptic and the dim light of the sunset brought you back to consciousness. The room was spacious and quiet, very different from the infirmary you remembered.
Beside you, sitting in a chair, Sabo sat up immediately when he saw you open your eyes. He looked older, but the scar on his face was unmistakable. It was Sabo. Although there was something about him that instantly sent shivers down your spine: his eyes were a dark gray, almost black, deep and bottomless. They were nothing like the light blue eyes of the Sabo you remembered. Feeling that intense gaze on you made you immediately uncomfortable, as if a predator were studying your every move.
He forced a calm, professional smile, trying to hide the relief on his face.
"Hey, calm down. Don't get up yet," he said calmly . "You're at the Revolutionary Army base, but... I know this is going to sound strange. There was a dimensional anomaly, and you ended up here injured. Ivankov already treated you, and you're out of danger."
He kept a respectful distance, although that dark gaze never left you for a second.
