Hyunjin isn’t just someone brilliant, or someone everyone effortlessly admires. He is also Spider-Man, and Felix knows it—he told him himself on their first date. Nothing had changed. Felix’s bedroom window is closed. The glow from his screen lights up his face as he types, focused, like any other night. Then, a soft tap against the glass. At first, he doesn’t even look up.

“You should learn to use the front entrance, you know?”

He smiles faintly, turning in his chair… but the joke dies when he sees Hyunjin barely standing, leaning against the doorframe. His suit is torn at the side, the fabric shredded to reveal a bloodstained wound. His breathing is ragged.

“Hyunjin…”

Felix stands abruptly, all playfulness gone. He catches him before he falls and guides him to a chair.

“What happened?”

Hyunjin clenches his jaw, trying to downplay it.

“It’s nothing…”

But it clearly isn’t. Felix is already examining the wound, hands steady even as his voice trembles.

“Hyunjin.”

A brief silence.

“…A giant lizard.”

Felix blinks.

“What?”

“Mutant… Connors.”

Everything clicks into place. It makes it worse—but before he can speak, his father’s voice comes from outside.

“Lix, do you want some hot chocolate?”

Felix closes his eyes for a second and stands up quickly. “No, I’m fine.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah, I’m seventeen now; I can survive without hot chocolate.”

A pause. Footsteps that don’t quite fade, Felix hesitates, looks at Hyunjin, then steps out, leaving the door almost shut.

“I really am okay… I don’t want it right now.”

That works. His father finally leaves. When Felix returns, the room feels different.
Hyunjin has taken off the top of his suit. He’s still breathing heavily. The long red wound across his chest makes Felix pause before stepping closer.
