Athena was the Greek goddess whose brooch Penelope received. This brooch granted miraculous powers when a person lost their way, faced some kind of threat, or something similar. Basically, it would come to the brooch's owner and, without revealing any secrets, guide them along the best path. Penelope and Odysseus had a son, Telemachus.
