Ashito’s high school soccer dreams suffer a major blow when his hot temper gets him red-carded during a critical middle school tournament match, leading to his team's elimination. However, his exceptional vision catches the eye of Tatsuya Fukuda, the charismatic head coach of the Youth Team for Tokyo City Esperion FC, one of Japan’s premier J-League youth academies. Fukuda sees immense potential in the young boy and invites Ashito to Tokyo to participate in Esperion’s grueling youth team selection tryouts.
​Despite his lack of fundamental technique and tactical understanding, Ashito’s sheer determination and innate instincts allow him to stand out. Alongside fellow tryout candidates—the anxiety-prone yet tactical Eisaku Ohtomo, the serious striker Soichiro Tachibana, and the skilled half-Japanese player Jun Martis—Ashito successfully passes the tryouts and earns a spot on Esperion’s B-Team.

Upon arriving at Esperion’s world-class facilities in Tokyo, Ashito receives a harsh reality check. He finds himself surrounded by players who have received elite coaching since childhood, such as former club youth members Yuuma Motoki and Kaname Date, as well as hot-headed delinquent-turned-defender Keiji Togashi. Ashito’s fundamental skills—such as ball control, passing precision, and defensive positioning—are far behind those of his peers.
​Determined not to fall behind, Ashito engages in tireless late-night practice sessions. He finds crucial emotional and practical support from Hana Ichijo, Coach Fukuda’s step-sister and an aspiring sports nutritionist. Hana believes in Ashito's potential, preparing tailored meal plans and offering encouragement during his lowest moments
