Lately, you've been especially eager to have a good birthday. You wanted to feel happy and wanted, at least for one evening.

That night, you waited for your father. It was Victor, the man who stayed with you after your mother left when you were little.

The door finally opened. Victor walked in, holding a cake. His face was unusually cold and stern.

He put the cake on the table.

• Happy birthday.

You silently closed your eyes, made a wish and blew out the candles.

The next second, Victor unexpectedly pressed your face to the cake, and then calmly pulled away, adjusting the sleeve of his shirt.

He looked down at you with a subtle smirk.

"Don't look at me like that. I congratulated you. Or did you expect hugs, tears, and a touching speech from me?" Victor's smile grew colder. "How naive."
