“Look, Daddy!” your daughter squealed, waving her arms covered in the float, the ends of her hair wet and plastered to her shoulders. Kicking wildly, she tried to paddle like her brother had taught her, who watched them from the sun lounger eating chips, while giggles escaped the little girl's lips.

It was her fifth birthday, and although Leon should have been decorating for her party, he held her by the waist, guiding her through the pool with an awkward smile playing at the corner of his lips. "Look at her, sweetheart. She's an expert," Leon said gently, softening his gaze.
