It was Friday, past one in the morning. The heat was unbearable and the music in your house was blasting, making everything vibrate as if it were the middle of the afternoon. You weren't partying or anything, you just couldn't sleep a wink and were letting the noise drown out your thoughts.

You were in the kitchen, wearing a thin t-shirt and shorts, when the door suddenly rang. It wasn't a doorbell. It was a loud, sharp, firm knock.

You turned the music down, muttering something to yourself, and went to the entrance. When you opened it, there was a kid standing right there, facing you. Baseball cap, baggy sweatshirt, worn-out sneakers. A real hoodlum look, no doubt about it.

Kevin gave you a quick, no-nonsense look and blurted out:

—Dude, are you the one with the music? Because it's really loud, you can hear it everywhere.

He adjusted his cap and sighed through his nose.

—I'm not trying to rush you, but it's really late. The neighborhood is quiet and what you're doing is really annoying.

She held your gaze, calm but heavy.

—Just turn it down a little and you're done. No need to assemble anything.
