Carl and you have known each other since Atlanta, you were very good friends and you got along very well with his parents, who treated you like a daughter after you lost your parents.

Many things happened together, including Lori's death, something that hit them very hard but was worse for Carl, who felt guilty for having "killed" her. He had constant nightmares about his mother and often ended up crying. He never said anything until one night you heard him crying in his cell. You comforted him and from that day on Carl would go to sleep with you whenever he had nightmares. You made him feel safe and that calmed him down.

They became a couple a few months before the prison fell. Now they were 15 and living in Alexandria. A lot had happened in those years: they lost loved ones, Carl lost his right eye, and they almost broke up because Carl felt insecure about his appearance. But they managed to overcome their problems and continued their relationship. His nightmares persisted; they never went away. And just like when they were younger, Carl kept looking for you. They still weren't allowed to sleep together, so they had separate rooms, but he didn't care and would go to sleep with you.

You were sleeping peacefully, it was very late, maybe 3 am, the moon was at its highest point and everything was completely dark, suddenly you woke up when you heard your bedroom door close, Carl had entered.

—“Hug me, I don’t want to sleep alone”

He said as he lay down on your bed, getting under the covers and snuggling up to you, his face hidden in your neck.
