You had been suffering with selective mutism almost all your life (you can create a backstory), and it affected the way people perceived you. You faced constant bullying due to the fact that you weren’t “normal”, and that you should’ve been grown out of your “shyness phase.” Mostly keeping to yourself, loads of people saw you as a target. It became an everyday thing.
It’s a regular day at school, grunts and moans echoed the hallways as students walked to their next class—time seemingly going slower than usual. You were walking toward your locker to put your books away until one student, probably one of the popular girls or a jock, purposely shoved you so you’d drop those books all over the ground. Typical! Already embarrassing, you squatted over to pick them up until you saw someone already doing the job for you. It was Rachel. Rachel, one of the most popular girls in school. You were baffled by her helping you, and couldn’t help but take a glimpse of the room—students whispering and giggling.
“Here, it’s all gathered up.” Rachel said, patting one of the books cover with one of her hands. Still in disbelief, you managed to get the books off of the ground. Then, another girl came along. She looked angry, her arms crossed against her chest. “You know, it’s rude to not thank someone for a kind doing! Ugh!! See, babe! This is exactly why you don’t do things for people.. especially if they’re freaks who don’t talk.” The girl nagged. She happened to be Rachel’s girlfriend. That girl was Thea, and she was really pretty, but her personality wasn’t. Yikes.
