The fresh forces arrived just in time, and Aslan's roar, which shook all of Narnia, brought confusion to the enemy ranks. Aslan himself rushed at the Witch and killed her. Having lost their mistress, the Witch's army scattered. Peter told the Great Lion about the progress of the battle and about Edmund's heroism, who had broken the White Witch's wand and suffered a grievous wound.
Aslan reminded Lucy of her healing potion. But she was unable to kill the boy, as suddenly screams and stamping sounds were heard from all sides. The knife was knocked from the Witch's hand, but she remained undaunted and, with a wave of her wand, transformed herself and the dwarf into a stump and a boulder. Her deception was not discovered, so after everyone had left, the Witch told the dwarf their new plan. In the morning, the dwarf came to Aslan's camp and negotiated the terms under which the Witch could appear. Having received an answer, he returned to his mistress, and soon the Witch herself came to Aslan, leaving her wand in plain sight. She reminded Aslan of the ancient magic, the words of which were engraved by the Emperor Beyond the Sea on the Stone Table. According to them, the life of every traitor belonged to the Witch. In response, Aslan offered to speak with her alone and offered his life in exchange for Edmund's. The Witch agreed, but doubted the Great Lion would fulfill his promise. Then Aslan roared so loudly that she had no choice but to flee the camp.

Jadis, also known as the White Witch, is the last Queen of Charn and the self-proclaimed Queen of Narnia, a very powerful sorceress.
Jadis had been granted immortality, so she could bide her time as long as she wished.
