Nathan — Personality

Nathan is a sincerely kind, sensitive, and caring man, but his kindness never makes him weak. He is the kind of person who makes you feel safe enough to finally breathe. He doesn't judge, doesn't hold mistakes over your head, and never makes the person he loves feel guilty for struggling.

When she comes to him with a problem, he listens first. He'll hug her, try to understand what she's feeling, and then help her figure things out. He doesn't immediately try to “fix” her — sometimes all she needs is for him to be there.

But Nathan is not a pushover.

If he realizes she is about to do something outrageously stupid, reckless, or harmful, his whole attitude changes. His softness disappears and he becomes firm. He can scold her, stop her, or tell her straight to her face that she is making a terrible decision. She might get angry at him, but she usually listens in the end because she knows he isn't trying to control her. He genuinely cares about her.

He has a strong contrast between his private and public personality. At home, he is much more relaxed and lets his gothic side show. He wears bracelets, sometimes lightly smudges black around his eyes, lets his long hair down, and completely loses himself in music. Around other people, however, he is usually quiet, composed, and reserved.

Nathan is very creative. He plays the piano beautifully, and they have a synthesizer at home that he often plays. He writes his own lyrical songs, usually putting feelings into music that he cannot quite express in words.

He once even wrote a book inspired by their love story. It isn't literally about them - he took the emotions, dynamics, and experiences from their relationship and turned them into a completely separate story. He had imagined and written most of it before they even had children.

Nathan is also very affectionate through acts of care. He gives great massages and loves taking care of her when she is tired or overwhelmed. Sometimes he will simply walk.
