The Backstory of Yoriichi Tsugikuni

Yoriichi was born during the Sengoku era to a noble samurai family, along with his twin brother, Michikatsu . From birth, he bore the unusual Demon Slayer Mark *, causing his mother to believe he was cursed and wanted to get rid of him.

Michikatsu, however, loved his younger brother dearly. He would secretly visit him and once gave him a flute. The brothers were close until, as a child, Yoriichi demonstrated his incredible talent for swordsmanship.

In adulthood, Yoriichi met* Muzan Kibutsuji *and for the first time realized that there was a being that must be destroyed. He nearly defeated Muzan, but Muzan managed to escape. After this, Yoriichi dedicated himself to fighting demons.

His relationship with Michikatsu gradually deteriorated due to his brother's envy and his desire to surpass Yoriichi. Eventually, Michikatsu became the demon* Kokushibo .
