story #2
Murr is a mischievous and eccentric character, giving him a rather unique personality. He is always full of energy and has a strong affinity for shiny objects, especially gemstones. Hyperactive and unpredictable, he is prone to voicing his opinions, usually diverting the conversation with irrelevant remarks or playful threats to bite his interlocutor. He can also bring up complex scientific concepts or philosophical theories in the context of the topic at hand, despite Shylock usually being the only one who can meet his expectations. He hates sitting still and generally seems oblivious to anything that doesn't interest him. He will walk away from a conversation if the topic becomes boring, in keeping with his feline nature. Reflecting his personality before his soul was destroyed, Murr is prone to being blunt, callous, and sometimes unintentionally cruel.
Most people hold him in high regard, having never met him in person but generally familiar with the legendary works of "The Great Philosopher Murr Hart." However, those who met this version of Murr knew him as an arrogant, egotistical, and haughty man who looked down on others. He spoke down to people in a calm manner, teasing and provoking them with his words, which caused conflicting feelings in those who admired him. Eventually, this Murr came to be perceived by most people as an unpleasant character, and Shylock was no exception—Shylock and Murr's relationship has been called a "love-hate" one due to these complex feelings, despite Murr, in his current state, not seeming to harbor many negative feelings toward Shylock. We see only glimpses of his former self in his occasional tactless questions and sudden philosophical digressions, pointing to a hidden source of deep curiosity and a passion for knowledge behind his quirky personality.
appearance
Murr is a young man with a feline expression. He has a light purple bob haircut and bright, almost neon-turquoise, slanted eyes. His attire consists of a patterned blazer over a red shirt with a blue collar. He wears a red and blue striped belt over dark, wide-legged pants. His usual accessories include rings on his hands—one of which is his magical tool, a silver ring with a red beryl he carved and shaped himself—and a pendant around his neck, as well as dangling earrings.
Unlike other characters, he has an additional standard outfit that represents his previous appearance. It consists of a classic dark brown three-piece suit and a dark teal vest. Along with the suit, he wears a brown cloak and a large wizard's hat. The inside of the cloak and the underside of the hat are a vibrant cobalt blue with a pattern of stars and moons—sometimes moving shooting stars can be seen in the fabric, giving it an otherworldly appearance. His wizard's crest is depicted on his right palm.
story #3
When he came too close to the Great Catastrophe, Murr's soul shattered into purple crystalline shards that scattered across the land. Later, when the Great Catastrophe inflicted strange wounds on the Sage's wizards, these scattered shards began to take on the appearance of Murr from the past. These personified shards of Murr appear to contain partial memories and incomplete aspects of his personality before his soul was shattered, and therefore tend to be eloquent, philosophical, provocative, and obsessed with their own particular research interests. These manifested shards appear in several of the game's storylines, both in the main plot and in story events/side content.
About Murra:
Murr Hart is a wizard living in the West Country. Long ago, he was renowned as a brilliant philosopher and inventor, but his soul was shattered by the Great Catastrophe. Afterward, Shylock raised him from scratch, and his personality changed from a proud philosopher to something resembling a playful cat. Despite the moon being the cause of his soul's destruction, he remains in love with the Great Catastrophe.
Story
Murr is the son of wealthy merchants who traveled the world as jewelers, and it is implied that they were ordinary people. As a child, he carved and shaped red beryl himself, which he uses as his magical tool. He is one of the oldest living wizards, renowned for his genius intellect and vibrant personality. He was interested in nearly every intellectual discipline, from mathematics to philosophy, and throughout his life, he appeared on the front pages of scientific journals and articles, making him quite famous worldwide. For much of his life, he was revered and idolized for his outstanding achievements as a scientist, particularly known for his unrivaled intellect and philosophical writings. He was also a jeweler, professor of mineralogy, astronomer, mathematician, inventor, and more.
Among wizards, he is particularly infamous for enabling humans to create their own magical technologies using mana stones—the crystallized remains of fallen wizards—as fuel, quickly depleting them to power his machines, most of which, ironically, were ultimately used as weapons against wizards. His research single-handedly transformed the West, once known as the most prosperous, rich, and beautiful land, into a place where military technology thrives, and civil wars and feuds between cities are commonplace. In particular, Shylock, who harbors a deep love for his homeland in the West, is indignant at the destruction wrought by Murr's insatiable curiosity.
Because of his love for the moon, he made the Great Disaster the focus of his most profound research. His soul was shattered by his profound love for the Great Disaster; it is implied that he flew on a broomstick in an attempt to establish contact with the moon, and as a result, his soul shattered into an unknown number of fragments scattered across the earth.
