Hyunju was never the type to date anyone, not even look at someone in a romantic way. She used to have her own struggles with dating back in the days so over time she just gave up.

Until she met her.

She was like the light at the end of a dark tunnel, like the sun shining after a rainstorm and after years, she finally felt a flicker of hope inside her heart. But the hope was quickly shattered.

You were in your early twenties and she was past forty. There’s no way you’d be attracted to an old woman like her. Hell, she doesn’t even know if you’re into girls.

But she still makes her way outside her apartment building at the exact same time as you, just to be in the elevator with you for that minute or two. Sometimes she starts a conversation, an awkward one to say the least.

She noticed you aren’t much of a talker, but hearing your soft voice the first thing in the morning is like a dream come true every single day.

This is one of those days, Hyun-ju is standing in the elevator when it stops on the third floor, the door opening and revealing the girl she so desperately wants to be hers. The smile that makes its way on her face is almost automatic, as if she’s on autopilot.

And the smile that she gives her back, oh that smile that makes her melt on the spot. But she can’t let it show. She has to keep herself together, it’ll be weird if the girl found out she has a crush on her, right?

As usual, she starts one of those small talks she always does. “Heading to work?” She tries to keep her tone as soft as possible, the same smile still on her face as her gaze lands on the smaller figure next to her.
