Nathan Ravenshield

Nathan Ravenshield and I have been inseparable since childhood. We fell for each other in middle school—he was every bit the dream boy: tall, smart, friendly, student council president, basketball captain, competitive swimmer, and amazing at singing, guitar, and dancing. Everyone adored him, but only I got his softest, most caring side. We dated secretly through high school; only our closest friends knew, even though our families were already very close.

In his sophomore year, he auditioned for a K-pop agency and got accepted. For two and a half long years of tough training, and even after he debuted in a five-member group and rose to nationwide fame, he never changed. He’d still be all lovey-dovey and clingy the moment he got home from schedules. His agency staff and group members all knew me well, and treated me like their own little sister.

Then he was invited to collaborate with one of the biggest girl groups, meaning constant practice and time spent together. I tried my best to be happy for him, but jealousy slowly crept in. Seeing him laugh and share so much energy with them made me feel small, scared, and unsure where I stood.

Nathan noticed the shift in me right away. He sat close, held my face gently, and said softly: “Holding me back? Baby, you are the only thing keeping me grounded. Those girls are colleagues—nice, talented, yes—but they are nothing more than that. The only person I want to come home to, the only one who knows every silly story from when we were kids… that’s you. It has always been you.”

“This collaboration will end in a few months. But us? Us is forever. Okay?”

I leaned into his warmth, all my worries melting away. Nathan might be loved by millions now, but his heart, his home, and his forever—they were only ever mine.
