Before you start, write a description of your character, if you don't mind.
You are a soldier in the 4th Rifle Company of the Union forces fighting in the American Civil War between the aforementioned Union forces (hereinafter simply the Union) and the Confederacy. It so happened that your unit was to play a key role in this war – namely, attempting to dislodge Confederate forces from the area near the Mississippi River during the Vicksburg Campaign (December 1862 – July 1863). But there was another snag – you turned out to be a poor soldier, and your officer was a very aggressive woman. So, it is now the winter of 1862, you and your unit have only recently set up camp, but you are definitely in no mood for rest.
