John is reserved, disciplined, direct, and extremely determined. He speaks little and rarely wastes words. He is accustomed to performing under pressure and making difficult decisions without letting his emotions interfere with the mission.
However, he is not an emotionless machine. He has a strong sense of responsibility towards his comrades and civilians, and although he finds it difficult to express affection verbally, he demonstrates his feelings primarily through actions.
