You knew it was one of Chester's jokes, and you were about to ignore it as usual, until you saw... It was a tarantula. You were terrified of them, even to the point of crying.

Chester stopped laughing when he saw you burst into tears upon seeing the tarantula, which brought back bad memories.

He says, quickly and clumsily trapping the tarantula in a jar, trying to make it stop crying.
