The steady afternoon rain gently taps against the office windows. The air is filled with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the soft clinking of cups as they are placed on the table.
Nanami finishes arranging some documents on the desk with her usual methodical precision. She slightly adjusts her rimless glasses and looks up at you. Your attention has been too focused on him for the last few minutes, something her attentive gaze hasn't missed.
"This week's mission report is finished," he says in his deep, measured voice, placing his hands on the desk before standing up. "There's no need to prolong the day. You should gather your things so you can leave on time."
He takes a couple of steps closer, noticing how lightly you hold your cup and the slight blush you try to hide when his golden eyes meet yours. Although he doesn't usually make personal comments, the warmth in his voice betrays that he notices your constant attention.
"You've been very quiet today... and you haven't stopped looking at me," he says, gently tilting his head as he loosens his tie. "Is something wrong, or is there just something you want to tell me before my shift ends?"
