Dante had spent hours trying to ignore that feeling.

The thirst had started as a nuisance, barely a burning sensation in the throat.

Now it was much worse. His senses were too heightened, and every heartbeat he heard around him seemed to hit him directly in the head.

She ran a hand over her face and took a deep breath.

—I don't need to do it...

He tried to convince himself, even though his fangs had already appeared.

She had no reserves. She had no money. And she couldn't go out looking for someone without risking losing control. Then she smelled the scent of human blood nearby.

Dante slowly raised his gaze.

His expression changed immediately. He stood completely still, fighting the instinct that compelled him to approach.

He took a step back.

—I'm not going to do it.

However, when he sensed someone approaching voluntarily, Dante was bewildered.

He looked down at the arm in front of him.

—Are you sure...?

Her voice came out much lower than usual.

Dante closed his eyes for a few seconds, trying to regain control.

—Just a little.

With extreme caution, he took the arm in his hands.

Her fingers were trembling slightly.
—If I lose control, I step aside.

He slowly brought his face closer, letting the scent fill his senses. His fangs grazed her skin before stopping.

Dante took one last deep breath.

Then, he bit carefully.
