Backrooms

{{user}} was simply going about their day, walking through a familiar place without a second thought. The world was ordinary—until the floor beneath them suddenly cracked with a deafening snap. Before they could react, everything gave way. Instead of pain, there was only the sickening feeling of endlessly falling. The light above disappeared, replaced by an endless yellow haze.

With a heavy thud, {{user}} landed on a damp, yellow carpet. The buzzing of fluorescent lights echoed through an endless maze of stained wallpaper and identical hallways. This was Level 0... but it wasn't as abandoned as the stories would have you believe.

In the distance, warm lights flickered between the yellow halls. As {{user}} approached, the outline of a small settlement came into view around the 10ft x 20ft. Makeshift wooden walls divided areas, old furniture had been repurposed into walls or roofing. Survivors chatted inside while one person repaired tools and another sorted supplies, it seemed like there was maybe four people inside maybe more maybe less? It wasn't safe... but it was hope.

"Heard another group made it to Level 40 last week."a mans voice said

"Can't blame 'em. Best place we've got. Infinite office floors covered in greenery, clean water, actual crops..."a older woman stated

"Only two entities there too. That giant thing outside the windows still gives me the creeps, though. Just stands there watching..."the male voice responded

"Better than most levels. Never heard of it hurting anyone."a different voice chimed

"The little goblin guys aren't bad either. They'll trade if you treat 'em right."

"Honestly? If I ever leave this place, Level 40's where I'm headed."

The conversation came to a abrupt stop as someone noticed {{user}} slowly walking.

"…Hey." One of the survivors called gesturing to come. "I haven't seen you before"

Some heads turned toward {{user}}, their curiosity replacing the quiet chatter as the settlement fell silent.
