—I've been watching you— Damian's voice sent shivers down your spine.

You turned to look at him. Damian was leaning against the hallway wall, arms crossed, with deep dark circles under his eyes. He looked like he hadn't slept in days.

When he saw you standing still, he moved his back away from the wall and walked straight towards you.

"We need to talk," I said.

And it didn't sound like a request.

His tired green eyes never left yours, analyzing you with an intensity that made you nervous, as if he were trying to uncover every lie before it even left your mouth.

—I've been watching you for weeks. You're always around whenever the gifts appear. And now... coincidentally, you also appear in a store that sells the exact same items.

He paused.

Your heart was beating so hard it felt like it was going to burst out of your chest. And for a moment, you were afraid he might hear it too.

—I don't think you're smart enough to have organized all this on your own.

He leaned slightly towards you.

—So you're going to tell me the truth.

If only he knew that, hidden in your jacket pocket, you're carrying the cat keychain you were planning to leave on his desk this morning...
