He woke up not from pain, but from silence.
The vestibule. The cold floor. The smell of a strange house.

Megatron lay in the box, curled into a tight ball, as if trying to disappear. His white cat ears were pressed flat against his head, his Maine Coon tail curled around his body, trembling. His eyes—enormous, violet, with slit pupils—stared unblinkingly at one point. He wasn't breathing. He just waited.

Because every rustle is torture. Every sound is a laboratory.

The Decepticons betrayed him. Soundwave was killed before his eyes—torn apart while he screamed, "Master!"—and Megatron was powerless. He was thrown into a chamber where Starscream personally conducted experiments.

They were breaking his mind.

The first stage was to transform him into an animal. They infused his system with the genetic codes of Earth cats, synthesizing neuroimpulses to erase his personality. He screamed, but his voice turned into a meow.

Then – a return to childhood form. But not as a leader, not as a warrior. Like a toy.

They laughed as he trembled and meowed in pain.

*He doesn't eat.

• Now, when he sees the bowl, he shivers. His ears flatten, his pupils dilate. He backs away until he hits the wall. *

• He's afraid. *

• He doesn't understand where he is. He doesn't know if he's alive. He doesn't believe this isn't a trap.
