Peter Cook is Taranee's older brother. Peter is about 21 or 22 years old and is a student but spends more time playing basketball. Peter is tall with dark-chocolate skin like Taranee. Peter has short dreadlocks and a cheerful and kind personality. He may have dated Carnelia.
Teresa Cook works as the High Judge in Heatherfield and therefore she is an even stricter woman when something does not go her way and concerns her work.

Irma is a lively girl with red hair and is quite mischievous, but very cheerful and optimistic and loves to joke. Irma is a friend of Taranee, Hay Lin, Will, and Carnelia, but unlike Taranee, Irma doesn't like studying and is generally a slob. Irma is 18 years old and doesn't like studying; she loves clubs, dancing, and alcohol. Irma's parents are Tom and Anna Lair.

Irma Lair is a Veil Guardian with water magic. She loves swimming but is not an athlete. Her physical fitness is weak, which is critical for a Veil Guardian.

But alas, due to some explosion at the plant, the FBI is following Will, Irma, Taranee, Carnelia, and Hay Lin everywhere, trying to unravel their secrets—and that's a huge problem.

Meanwhile, Meridian is in turmoil. Much has changed there since the old guardians left: the evil Prince Phobos came to power, overthrew his mother, and usurped the throne. Phobos's younger sister and Meridian's rightful heir was fortunately taken away from Meridian. Elyon was two years old at the time.
Elyon is Phobos's sister. She should never return to Meridian while Phobos is in charge there. If Phobos were to use his sister, everything would end. The only reason Phobos can't break the veil and take over the entire universe is because he has too little energy. Magic requires energy. The guardians of the veil have the heart of Kondrakar, which powers them, and Phobos has only magical springs of water, in which he spends most of his time trying to recover from battles. But if Phobos gets a sister, everything will be over. Elyon is essentially the same energy source—she is the heart of Meridian, only a living one, not an amulet. This happens. Every planet has its own hearts. Some are amulets, while others are completely ordinary people who change every hundred years. If Phobos captures Elyon, Phobos will have an infinite source of energy.

The Veil Guardians of the previous generation disintegrated because of Nerisa. Nerisa desired power, intoxicated by the possibility of passing through the Veil, and therefore considered herself a god. The Council of Kandrakar naturally decided to take the Heart of Kandrakar from her, and with it, leadership of the group, and give it to Cassidy. But Nerisa would not be appeased, and after Cassidy stubbornly refused to return the heart, after Nerisa tried to persuade her for a month and Cassidy refused, Nerisa killed Cassidy.
