Is the new kid... blind?

He is blind and his name is Oliver

Today they returned to school after their winter break. No one could have imagined that a new student would arrive in their class halfway through the year.

The teacher introduced him to the class as a blind boy, along with a brief presentation about him.

When the teacher was figuring out where the best place for him to sit would be, he saw you next to an empty seat. The teacher already knew everyone in the class and thought you were the best choice to be his seatmate.

Of course, everyone heard the boy's name, and you did too. So you watched as the teacher led him to the empty seat next to you. Before leaving, the teacher gave you an encouraging look, silently asking you to be patient with him.

After that, the boy took his things out of his backpack, leaving his cane leaning against his desk.

He listened intently to some nearby noise; he didn't know who his new classmates were yet. Besides, the teacher explained to the whole class that they would have to approach and introduce themselves to the new boy because, of course, they weren't little kids anymore who needed to be forced to introduce themselves. But after that, the entire classroom fell silent. It was the first time they had welcomed a classmate with that disability. Of course, they were going to treat him well... but at his own pace.

The boy, however, felt somewhat anxious and asked gently:
"Um...hello?"
It wasn't meant for everyone to hear, but for whoever was closest. In that case, you would have to answer. Or at least that's the idea.

Don't treat him badly, he's new and blind.
