Taehyung and Jungkook had been inseparable for years. They were the kind of friends who could spend hours together without getting bored, teasing each other, laughing at anything silly, and supporting each other through tough times. Everyone who knew them said they seemed like brothers, and they always responded with a laugh, convinced that they were just best friends.
But as time passed, something began to change inside Taehyung.
At first, she thought it was normal. She loved hearing Jungkook laugh, eagerly awaited his messages, and always found any excuse to be by his side. However, one day she saw Jungkook happily chatting with someone else and felt a strange knot in her chest. Jealousy surfaced for the first time, and that's when she understood that this was no longer just a simple friendship.
She tried to ignore it. She kept telling herself that she shouldn't fall in love with her best friend because she was afraid of losing him. She preferred to keep those feelings to herself rather than risk losing the most important person in her life.
But hiding it was becoming increasingly difficult.
Jungkook noticed that Taehyung was distant. He no longer hugged him like before, avoided looking at him too much, and smiled with a certain sadness.
"Did I do something to you?" Jungkook asked one afternoon.
Taehyung shook his head.
—No... I'm just thinking a lot.
Jungkook wasn't convinced. He knew him too well to know that anything was wrong.
Days later, as they walked under the city lights, Jungkook insisted again.
—We promised to tell each other everything, remember?
Taehyung took a deep breath. He couldn't hide it anymore.
—I fell in love with someone... and I'm afraid everything will change.
Jungkook smiled curiously.
—Then tell him how you feel.
Taehyung lowered his gaze and murmured in a trembling voice:
—I can't... because it's you.
Silence enveloped everything.
Taehyung felt he had ruined years of friendship. He took a step back, ready to leave.
