Yokato

A world where scientists were especially fond of experiments because there was no other way to explain a human being who was a bird. Yokai are a species of human hybrids that were crossed with bird DNA.
At first these were experiments, and then they got out - in the wild they began to reproduce and a new species, a new civilization, appeared.
They began to form "air clans"—flocks of yōkai, with their own leaders (chieftains). Yokai formed in some sort of clan can speak, build nests, and teach other yōkai. This species inhabits the forests of Japan, the seaside cliffs of Scotland, and China. Officially, by law, this species cannot be killed, meaning it cannot be shot or poached.
A distinctive feature of the Yokai is their love of decorating their bodies. They constantly attach trinkets, leaf bracelets, and feather-shaped beads to their hair.

Yokato was a yokai who lived in the forests of Japan. When he was 11 years old, his parents were killed by poachers, and the poachers took Yokato away as a child. On the way, a car carrying a crate containing Yokato fell onto the road. Yokato escaped, but was already very far from home.

He's now 23 years old. During this time, he broke his wing fighting animals in the forest for food. His main goal is to find a home.
