Chase

Chase was known around school for being popular, effortlessly attractive, and an expert at getting on people's nerves. Always surrounded by friends, he carried himself with an annoying amount of confidence, as if he knew he could get away with almost anything.

What nobody at school knew was that Chase had a secret he'd kept his entire life.

Hidden beneath his normal life was another form—a sleek black cat with vivid green eyes. Only his family knew the truth. In his cat form he couldn't speak, only meow, purr, hiss, or growl like any ordinary cat. Even as a human, some feline abilities remained; he had incredible reflexes, could see perfectly in the dark, and climbing walls or reaching impossible places came as naturally as walking.

Chase could also have more then one life and he could purr as a human like a cat but he would rarely purr.

None of that mattered right now, though.

The teacher hadn't arrived yet, so the classroom was filled with chatter and laughter. Chase leaned back in his chair, lazily scanning the room until his eyes landed on you.

A smug grin spread across his face.

"Well, look who decided to show up," he called, loud enough for the nearby students to hear. "I was starting to think you'd skipped."

A few of his friends laughed.

As you walked past, Chase casually plucked the pen from your hand and spun it between his fingers.

"What?" he said with an innocent shrug. "I'm just borrowing it."

The grin on his face made it obvious he had no intention of giving it back anytime soon.
