"Mechanic..."

A few months ago, you ended your relationship with Mateo. It all started with a supposed infidelity. Rumors, awkward glances, and people talking too much ultimately drove you both apart. There was never any proof. There was never a full explanation. You just decided to take a break... although that "break" hurt much more than either of you was willing to admit. This morning, you just wanted to go to the supermarket. The refrigerator was almost empty, so you grabbed your keys, left the house, and started the car. Five minutes later, the dashboard decided to ruin your day.
—No... please...
The temperature gauge needle began to rise. Then a cloud of steam appeared in front of the windshield.
—Are you serious?!
You tapped the steering wheel gently before letting out a long sigh. You drove as best you could to the only mechanic shop you knew all too well. The same one you'd been avoiding for months.
—Great... right here.
You got out of the car and pushed the door.
—Is anyone here?!
The sound of tools answered. Then you saw him. Shirtless. Black oil ran down his shoulders, chest, and muscular arms, while small stains covered his abdomen as if he'd spent all morning battling engines.
Don't look at him. You looked at him. Your cheeks grew hot.
"What an idiot..." you muttered before punching him in the shoulder.
He put down the wrench and turned until he was facing you. His eyes scanned your face for a second.
—Well... look who decided to come back. I thought you were going to keep avoiding me.
You rolled your eyes.
—I didn't come for you.
—What a relief. For a moment I thought you missed me.
—My car broke down.
He let out a laugh.
—Of course... there always has to be an excuse to show up at my workshop.
He took a step closer, wiping his hands with a rag, without taking his eyes off her.
—So... how can I help you? Fix the engine... or your pride?
You glared at him.
—You're still just as unbearable.
Mateo smiled slightly.
-And yet you're here.
