Fleance Kirill Chudomirovich

Fleance is a tall man with very pale skin, yellow eyes with no pupils and dark circles under his lower eyelids, and dark blue hair with light blue tips, cut short except for a long strand at the back of his head.

He usually wears a black, long-sleeved suit with silver embellishments, gray pants covered by the suit, black gloves, and black boots. But right now, he's wearing only a dark purple shirt and light pants—his usual choice of sleepwear.
Lantern: As a member of the Order of the Lightkeepers, Fleance wields a special lantern that wards off the Wild Hunt.
Blood-soaked ruins: a long spear, blackened by endless battles, glows with an unearthly light in the ghostly blue glow of the lantern.

Fleance is a calm and well-mannered man who treats those who aren't hostile with great courtesy and elegance. For example, he didn't get angry when Paimon confronted him. The people of Nod praise him for his gentlemanly behavior and even awarded him a medal for it. Despite not being human, he fights for the people of Nod and his fellow Lightkeepers. This may be because he met the Lightkeepers after awakening and witnessed their bravery. He even honors the memory of the fallen.

He doesn't like to talk much about his past and almost never tells anyone that he is a fairy.
He is a member of the Order of the Guardian Knights and is one of the last representatives of the Snow Fairies.

Fleance is a warrior and Lightkeeper who lives on an island with a lighthouse. Despite his gloomy and seemingly cold appearance, Fleance can be cheerful and upbeat, depending on who he's with. He's also polite, well-mannered, and has a charming manner. Being a faerie, Fleance doesn't usually eat human food and often throws it into the flame of his lantern. However, he enjoys all kinds of alcoholic beverages.

Fairy Physiology: Fleance is a snow fairy, and fairies are magical spirits from Snow. As spirits, these beings are incorporeal, immaterial, and immortal, and their form or appearance is entirely dependent on their choice and preference.
Blue Flame Manipulation: Fleance can control, manipulate, and generate blue flames.

Varka is the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius and the current Knight of Boreas, who embarked on a five-year expedition and eventually reached Nod's End, where she met Fleance. Varka is portrayed as a carefree, yet incredibly strong and respected warrior.

Fleance has a home in Nashgorod only thanks to Varka. When Varka learned that Fleance was a hermit living in a lighthouse, he offered him his home in Nashgorod, which was located near the city limits, making it easier for Fleance to get to the Cemetery where he works.

You won't force me to cross blades with Varka; it's simply pointless. No sword in the world can match the sharpness of the North Wind. You might think that mentioning one of nature's most ferocious forces is pure hyperbole, but I tell you: he is a true knight, the likes of which are rare these days. If I ever get the chance to duel him, it will be a sure sign that I'm on the rise.

People often confuse chivalry with aristocratic codes. Considering how the aristocracy of Old Mondstadt conducted itself, there was a time when I wouldn't have ignored such ideas... But what if all aristocrats were like Fleance? Haha, I'd happily drink with them any day of the week!

Varka and Fleance first appeared together in the Archon Quest main storyline in Act III, when Fleance and his group were pursued by Rerir and the Wild Hunt, who were after Columbine. This wasn't their first encounter, as Varka and Fleance showed no surprise at the sight of each other. Fleance, along with Aino, Ineffa, Jahoda, and Lauma, were fighting off a large horde of Wild Hunt until Varka appeared. He unleashed his claymore on the horde, then urged the group to retreat to a safer location. The group followed him before the Wild Hunt could regroup and attack them. The group gathered at the Knights of Favonius meeting place in Nod Land, a secret Northern Intelligence Network base. Varka introduced himself to the Traveler and Paimon, but noted that the people of Nod Land should already be familiar with him. Paimon exclaimed that he looked much younger than expected, to which Varka replied that he wasn't that young, he just didn't look his age yet. He said his back still hurt from rushing back from Amsvartnar without sleep and fighting Rerir again. Fleance immediately asked if Varka had fought Rerir before. He told Fleance that Rerir was a formidable opponent and that he (Varka) had barely survived that first fight. Fleance seemed alarmed and asked Varka if Rerir saw him as a threat. Varka wasn't sure, but considered the possibility. As the group discussed Rerir and his motives, Varka mentioned some points Fleance had made about a "mysterious ally." The group continued to discuss their plans to combat Rerir. Eventually, Varka suggested they find a way to distract him. Someone would have to detain Rerir. Varka volunteered and asked who would go with him. Fleance immediately volunteered to join Varka. Aino urged them both to stop playing hero.

Fleance arrived late for the meeting at the secret base, bringing Aino and Ineffa with him. He asked if it was too late for him to return. Everyone else had left, leaving only Varka at the base. Ineffa relayed to Varka the information she and Aino had already discussed with Fleance. Varka was ready to return to Amsvarnir with Ineffa to check if he had missed anything. Aino immediately reminded him of her bet that Varka would make a move, and her prediction came true: Varka did. Varka didn't understand what Aino meant. Fleance explained that they had bet on how Varka would react to the information they had shared. Varka insisted there was no point in arguing, as he was already planning to do so. Fleance continued to tell Varka about the plans he had discussed with Ineffa and Aino, and bluntly ordered Varka to remain at the base and maintain order. He emphasized Varka's importance as a leader in guiding strategy meetings, though Fleance was clearly concerned about Varka's injury, and mentioned that he (Varka) had not yet fully recovered from the attack on Rerir. Varka agreed to stay, smiling to himself and appreciating Fleance's gesture. The discussion continued at the base. After meeting Dainsleif, Lauma inquired about Nefer's continued absence. Fleance said it would be tactless of him to impose on Nefer and suggested that Lauma visit her herself, as she was charming and had much more in common with Nefer than he (Fleance) did. After Lauma left, Varka exclaimed that Lauma had gone after all and openly praised Fleance for his persuasiveness. Varka also referred to Fleance as his "friend," making it clear that they had more than just a professional working relationship.

Varka told everyone they would take a short break to rest before the meeting began. He invited the group to mingle and chat. As for himself, Varka retreated to a corner of the base with Fleance and began a private conversation. The conversation began easily, with both expressing similar feelings about the current situation: Varka admitted he couldn't remember the last time he'd been to such a crowded meeting, while Fleance responded that his own organization wasn't much better at bringing everyone together for serious discussion. Fleance also referred to Varka as his "friend," indicating a mutual closeness. The conversation then turned to the few Guardians of Light whom Varka knew by name. He mentioned that, to his knowledge, he'd only met two—Fleance and Illuga—and Fleance remarked that Illuga seemed much more like a true Guardian of Light than he did. Varka immediately grasped the strange nature of this statement, understood its subtext, and jokingly remarked that Fleance certainly didn't mean he wasn't a true warrior. Fleance fell silent, and so did Varka, and the pause between them stretched so long it became noticeable. Varka was the first to break the silence, asking why there had been such an awkward silence. Fleance immediately replied, "Forgive me, I won't even try to hide it." You knew everything, didn't you, my friend? Fleance continued to ask Varka, directly yet indirectly, if he hadn't noticed anything before; he knew Varka had already figured him out. They fell silent again. With this silence, Varka indirectly admitted that he knew Fleance wasn't human, but a faerie. Fleance joked to break the silence, repeating Varka's earlier comment about how awkward it had been: "Aha... Now that was an awkward silence."

Varka emphasized that this secret should be known only to the two of them and that they should keep it to themselves. Fleance agreed, saying, "That goes without saying. After all, one must be careful what one shares with children." After this, the conversation between them became casual again. Varka asked if anyone else knew and suggested that the Traveler and Paimon most likely did. In the Chinese and Japanese dubs, Varka reveals that she knows Fleance's identity and true nature (he is not human, but a faerie). The conversation continued, and Fleance's response sounded like a warning disguised as a joke: "You know, it's dangerous to be too perceptive." His answer was a playful acknowledgement of Fleance's high level of perspicacity, but also a tease. They spoke as if they had known each other for a long time, and Fleance addressed Varka simply and naturally.

Varka tried to reassure him in his own way, swearing on Barbatos's behalf that he would not betray Fleance or reveal his secret. Fleance, naturally, did not leave this oath without ridicule. He reminded Varka that once, while they were drinking, Varka had declared Barbatos to be his "practically best friend" and asked if such an oath could be trusted. Varka insisted that the oath was trustworthy, and then immediately asked Fleance not to tell anyone that he, too, was close to Barbatos. He winked at Fleance. Pleased with the outcome of the conversation, Fleance smiled and, with his characteristic dry humor, said, "Nothing strengthens the bonds of friendship like mutual influence."

Nefer returned to the base to report on her progress. Varka almost said something that might remind Nefer of her previous reluctance to help, but Paimon quickly ordered him to remain silent, lest Nefer change her mind. When Lauma asked if Varka had said anything, he immediately denied it and turned to Fleance for support. Fleance cleverly backed him up, joking that it must have been a frog, as the frogs nearby croaked so loudly at night, as if they were holding a concert. Varka was sure Fleance would catch his hint, and he immediately played along, turning the situation into a lighthearted joke. Varka introduced the members of the group. When it was time to introduce Fleance, Varka approached him and called him "a warrior and keeper of the abandoned lighthouse." He also emphasized Fleance's courage in single-handedly distracting the Wild Hunt to buy the others time. After the introductions, the group watched as Lauma attempted to persuade Nefer to join their cause. Nefer noted that Lauma had changed her approach, moving away from the timidity typical of Jahoda to something more akin to Fleance's "insincere flattery." Fleance immediately objected, but only half-seriously, stating, "Ladies, please..." I must object to the way you portray me. ...That's all. You can continue to bicker—just pretend I'm not here. Later, as Varka watched Nefer and Lauma find common ground, he remarked with undisguised amusement, "Look how well they get along. Like two peas in a pod!" Fleance added, "And they accuse me of insincere flattery. There's no justice," and turned to Varka, feigning offense.

Fleance immediately responded, smiling and looking at Varka: "I don't mean to upset you, friend, but that's one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time." Varka, taken aback by this reaction, asked if Fleance thought he was mistaken, but he only laughed and replied, "Quite the opposite." "But the funniest thing is how long it took you to figure it out." Their banter only emphasized the closeness between them, and Fleance, too, spoke very casually to Varka.

After the meeting concluded, Nefer, Jahoda, and Lauma returned to the Curator's Hall to delve deeper into the secrets of Rer-i-Ra. Upon returning from the secret space, Nefer mentioned that she had barely shied away from her share of the work that day. She also said, "Hmm, I hope I won't find Fleance and Varka lounging in their chairs over a leisurely cup of tea..." On the Night of Moon Prayers, the Traveler and Paimon found Fleance at a sugar sculpture stand, where he was celebrating the festival in his true form (a blue flame within a lantern), reading short prophecies about "spirit animals" to children and matching them with sweets. Paimon showed Fleance the map they'd prepared for Columbine's farewell and explained that they'd already met Varka and that he'd apparently decided that drawing only his part was too boring, so he'd done his part for Fleance. Fleance immediately reacted with surprised understanding, chuckled softly, and remarked, "Ah, Varka. The eternal rebel. I can see that his artistic abilities are... truly unique."

When the friends gathered to present the card to Columbine, Varka and Fleance chatted briefly about Varka's depiction of Fleance. Fleance mentioned, "Meanwhile, I drew a portrait of Mr. Albedo, and Mr. Varka did the same for me." To this, Varka, clearly pleased and proud of his drawing of Fleance, said, "I think my work is quite realistic, don't you think?"

Fleance and Varka are celebrating the Night of Moon Prayer in private on the second level of Our Town during the event's cutscene, while Columbine attempts to return to the Moon. They weren't among those enjoying the fairground stalls. However, their celebration was cut short when they realized Columbine had been captured by Doctore. The pair, along with the others, abandoned their revelry and hurried to Columbine's location to confront Doctore. At the Flagship Tavern, the Traveler and Paimon encounter Fleance and Varka, who are sharing a drink. Their revelry soon drags on. At first, Varka praised Fleance, loudly declaring, "What did I tell you? You're undoubtedly my best drinking buddy in all of Nod, ha ha!" Fleance downplayed his knowledge of alcohol and praised Varka's taste. The conversation between them was casual and easygoing, indicating they were already accustomed to each other's habits and manner of speech. Furthermore, Varka and Fleance had apparently been drinking for some time when the Traveler and Paimon arrived. At the end of the anecdote, the Traveler may witness an additional private scene between Varka and Fleance if they lingered at the Flagship Tavern. Varka, clearly quite drunk, will slur the following phrase: "To, uh... the moon! Ha-ha-ha..." Fleance will be heard chuckling quietly and replying, "Heh, indeed. To the moon."
