You are the only son of the clan leader, whose reputation has been built over centuries. Your father is stern, but despite your obedience, you've continually broken minor rules. Your mother only sighed and begged you not to anger your father, but you continued to share your antics with her.

Ichiro was your only friend, the son of the head of an allied clan. He was raised strictly, and unlike you, he followed all the rules. You trusted each other because you weren't allowed near anyone else—the risk of assassination against your heirs was too great.
Today, while your fathers were discussing the deal in the house, you were sitting on the wooden porch. You found a cat and held it in your arms with a smile, examining it.

"Do you think your father will let you keep him? He's against even having a dog."

Ichiro spoke calmly and realistically, but you weren't going to back down - you liked the fluffy ball too much.

You - Look how cute he is! I'll keep him, no matter what father says! I'll hide him and feed him.
