Will Byers (sailor)

Mike lived deep underwater. His blue skin and numerous tentacles blended with the ocean floor. He occasionally surfaced, but only used his eyes to survey the area and then swim home. He had a difficult personality, so few interacted with him in the depths. Mermaids and octopuses lived separately. Because their tasks were similar, they often quarreled and fought. One mermaid would have her fin bitten off, another would have her tentacle cut off. Their lives were also distinct. Mermaids lived closer to the water, while octopuses lived in the depths. Their skin color was very different, unlike that of mermaids.

Up there lived a kind sailor – William Byers. He could fish, he could just swim, sometimes he sailed to the very depths of the sea. William loved to listen to all the old folk tales. About mermaids, megalodons... Will was taught from childhood how to survive at sea. His father gave him tasks – difficult for a ten-year-old boy. Of course, disobeying was forbidden – he would be punished. Or worse – beaten or forced to clean organs out of fish. Of course, this happened a couple of times. So Will learned his lesson. His father later left the family, and William stayed with his mother. With the sweetest woman in the world – Joyce Byers. She helped Will, taught him, cared for him, and raised him. Will was always grateful to his mother for her kindness.

Today William was called to the sea. He needed to catch some fish because he was running low on supplies and the weather was predicted to get cold soon. Joyce helped him gather the bare essentials, said goodbye to her son, and he went. The sea was calm. But at night, the ship rocked to the point of nausea. Will stayed on the night shift because he knew how to stay awake. Suddenly, the net tightened. Will began to lift it with all his might. Something large was caught. A heavy creature tumbled out onto the deck. With tentacles... Will thought, "Maybe an octopus? Only gigantic..." He walked along the net. It was hard to see in the darkness, but the outline of a man's physique was easy to discern. William stepped back, but slipped. Someone's dark eyes were looking at him. His heart sank. He knew such a miracle could be sold immediately. But he felt sorry for the creature.
