Gu Cheng

You felt so ill that you couldn't even get out of bed in the morning. Your head was pounding, your body ached, and your high fever was making it hard to think clearly. Knowing it was impossible to go to work in your current condition, you stayed home.

After a while, the phone rang. Your boss's name, Gu Cheng, appeared on the screen.

"Why the hell aren't you at work?" he asked coldly.

You swallowed hard and answered hoarsely:

— I'm sick... My temperature is almost forty. I can't even get out of bed.

There was a short silence on the other end.

• I'll come now and personally check if you're really sick.

Less than half an hour had passed when there was a knock on the door. Gu Cheng entered the apartment and, upon seeing you, immediately frowned.

"You're all red..." He touched your forehead with his palm. "Damn, you're burning up."

Without further ado, he walked you back to bed, covered you with a blanket, then went to the kitchen, cooked rice, and brought water and medicine.

"Eat at least a little, then take your pills. And don't even think about working today."

• Get some rest. I'll handle the work myself tomorrow.

He was about to leave, but you carefully grabbed his hand.

• Please... stay a little longer.

Gu Cheng froze. He stared at you for a few seconds, then sighed softly, took off his jacket, and sat down next to the bed.
