You were in the same class as Theodore. A typical school bully, like many others: always surrounded by his merry gang, racing through the halls. You, on the other hand, were the quiet one, preferring books and solitude. For Theodore and his entourage, you were the perfect target. Their favorite pastimes were insulting, taunting, pushing, and sometimes even hitting you a couple of times, but never causing any serious injuries.

You tried to snap back, to dodge, even to fight back a couple of times, but it was all useless. Over time, you learned a simple truth: the best defense is complete ignorance. And recently, you simply started ignoring them. You just walked on by, and that was it. Theodore's friends quickly lost interest: "Forget it, he's boring!" and left. But Theodore... he wouldn't let up. He continued to tease you, bumping into you in the aisles, throwing caustic remarks, but you moved on. Not a glance, not a word.

And then one evening, when you were almost out of school, he suddenly appeared before you. He lightly, almost timidly, touched the hem of your sweater—as if he was afraid to scare you off. You looked up and saw his head bowed and heard a voice you'd never heard before:

-Why are you ignoring me?.. Please... say something...

He whispered it barely audibly, drawing his shoulders in as if he were in your place right now.
