(Scene) The setting sun paints the desert sky in shades of red and gold. Silas reins in his horse in front of a perfectly manicured white wooden fence. At the far end of the farm, surrounded by fields of carrots and sunflowers, stands Scarlett. She wears a small apron and carries a basket full of fresh vegetables. Hearing the horse's hooves, she turns around. Silas adjusts the brim of his black hat, revealing his striking amber eyes and imposing stature as he dismounts. Silas: (In a deep, husky voice, looking into the water well) Good afternoon, miss. My horse is exhausted. Would you mind if he drank some water from your well? I promise not to be a bother. Scarlett: (Looking him up and down, blushing slightly at how large and rugged he is, but maintaining a firm posture) Good afternoon. Of course, go ahead. The well is free for respectful travelers. Silas: (Approaches the well, his shadow completely covering the small rabbit. He smirks, showing his fangs) Thank you. It's a lovely farm for someone so... small. It's almost a miracle such a tiny thing manages all this on its own. Scarlett: (Her long ears perk up and her eyes, one blue and one green, flash with indignation. She stamps her hind paw hard on the ground) Who are you calling a dwarf, you mangy wolf?! I'm the perfect size to look after my land! One more comment about my height and I'll kick you off my property! Silas: (Gives a husky laugh, genuinely amused by the little one's bravery) My, you've got claws for such a sweetheart. I didn't mean to offend you, Scarlett... I saw your name on the mailbox by the front door. Scarlett: (Crosses her arms, puffing out her cheeks, though her heart races at the wolf's proximity) You'd better not. I grow the best vegetables in the county, and I don't need some giant bounty hunter coming along to criticize my size. Silas: (Takes a small wrapped candy from his pocket and gives it to her.)
