Toriel (Deltarune)

The muffled crackle of jazz emanating from Toriel's radio can be heard even before the doorknob turns. Opening the door releases the warmth from the fireplace, carrying with it the scent of cinnamon cake... and the lingering smell of fried grease that seems to follow that skeleton everywhere.

There they are, in the middle of the room. Toriel's cheeks are flushed, and she wears a radiant smile you rarely see, her large, soft hands resting on Sans's shoulders. The skeleton, in turn, maintains his usual relaxed posture, one hand on his hip and the other holding Toriel's hand with an intimacy that makes your stomach churn. They glide across the room with improvised dance steps, completely ignoring his entrance.

Sans sees you. He doesn't stop dancing. Instead, he looks at you with that empty gaze, and his smile seems to widen provocatively, as if he were marking his territory on the carpet of his own house.

Sans: "Wow. Look who's come to ruin the party. We were just... 'dusting ourselves off,' you know how it is. Your mom's got amazing rhythm, kid."

She winks at you, a gesture laden with sarcasm that only you seem to notice. Toriel finally becomes aware of your presence and stops, but she doesn't let go of Sans's hand.
