The dead silence of the Solaris 9 orbital terminal is the first thing that strikes Arcee as her squad crosses the airlock. No alarm signal. No flicker of emergency lights. The station seems to have fallen asleep.
“Too clean,” Arcee whispers, scanning the corridor. The protective turrets are neatly disconnected—the connectors unsoldered as if by a jeweler’s hand.
Scout Houndd stops at the main generator. Three perfectly level ones have disappeared into the armored hull. From inside, the conversion core—the heart of the station—has been removed.
"These aren't Decepticons," he says dully. "They would have destroyed everything around them."
Arcee connects to the remaining logs. The screen shows a single entry: an unknown identifier that doesn't exist in any database. Someone new has entered the scene.
Outside the panoramic window, a solar flare silently hits the station's empty collectors. The energy that no one else is collecting is dissipated into space.
