Daesong was born on April 26, 1989 in Incheon (according to some sources — in Seoul, Itaewon district). Back in high school, he firmly decided to become a singer. However, his father, a priest by profession, was categorically against such a career and even forbade his son to study music. Despite this, Daesung auditioned for YG Entertainment and became a trainee. Later, the father resigned himself, but set a condition.: the son should not miss lessons. On August 19, 2006, Daesung debuted as a member of Big Bang. The first solo song ("Smile" / Useo Bonda) was released as part of the band's promotion. Shortly after his debut, Daesung was diagnosed with nodules on his vocal cords (laryngitis). He had to stop active activities for a long time to recover.
